On-Campus Health Education, Care, & Referrals
Franklin Pierce University Health Services provides a full range of primary care, referrals and educational services tailored to the individual and unique needs of college students on the Rindge campus. Franklin Pierce Health Services is a member of the American College Health Association and the New England College Health Association. Health Services is licensed as an educational health facility by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
Health Services staff are comprised of: Experienced Health Care Professionals comprised of a Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Practical Nurse, and an administrative assistant. Health Services offers initial diagnosis and treatment for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries and appropriate follow-up care. Health Services will also refer students to a variety of specialists when needed. Some care may be offered on-site, while other services are provided by local experts. Health Services will also coordinate care with the student's medical provider when necessary and/or required.
Primary Care Services
Health Services provides you a wide range of primary care services. Our providers are experienced in treating common medical problems seen on college campuses. We are interested in helping you stay healthy and active.
- Family Planning: We are dedicated to providing our patients with best in reproductive and sexual healthcare while advancing the wellbeing of our patients through treatment options based on the latest research and clinical outcomes. For specific services offered, please contact Health Services.
- Women's Health: Gynecological services are available by appointment. Services include assessment and possible treatment of infectious diseases, pregnancy testing, and birth control. Extensive education on Women's Health issues is always available.
- Men's Health: Health Services provides information on contraception, education about testicular and prostate cancer, and provides education on infectious diseases.
- Laboratory Services: Lab services are available at Health Services are: Influenza A/B, Strep A, Mono, pregnancy, urinary tract infection, and COVID-19. Quest lab is utilized for testing that is processed in a laboratory, such as; sexually transmitted infection testing is available.
- Immunizations: Centers for Disease Control recommends – Initial COVID-9 immunization series, Meningitis
(MenACWY), Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Tetanus and TB screening are
mandatory for admission. Health Services has meningitis (MenACWY), Tetanus (T-DAP),
influenza, and as available COVID-19 initial/booster. All vaccines administered in
Health Services will incur a fee not covered by student insurance. (Outside insurances
not accepted)
Health Education/Wellness Programs
We offer individual help on a variety of topics such as alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; sexual health; fitness and nutrition; eating disorders; and stress management. Programs are provided to resident student housing, organizations, and academic classes.
Rindge Campus Health Requirements
Students who are without health insurance coverage in the U.S. need to purchase health insurance for the duration of their attendance at Franklin Pierce University.

Release of Medical information
Franklin Pierce Health Services maintains medical records of Rindge students for five years beyond departure. After that medical records are destroyed. To request a copy of medical records, please download the Medical Records Release Form and fill out completely. Release forms are required to have the student's signature. You may fax or mail in your request to:

Health Insurance Eligibility
Franklin Pierce University does not provide health insurance coverage to students. With the passing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), all individuals are mandated to have a certain level of Health Care Insurance. As a result, students are required to provide Health Services with their insurance information prior to enrolling in course work. International students who do not qualify for insurance under the ACA may find resources within the section titled "International Insurance."
Health Services Visits
Students are asked to call ext. 4130 to set up appointments at Health Services. By calling for an appointment in advance, you can decrease waiting time and allow adequate time with the appropriate health care provider. Walk-in acute care situations and emergencies are given priority attention. Health Services hours are Monday - Friday 8AM- 4:30PM during the academic year. EMT coverage is available after hours. For emergencies call ext. 5555.
Medications
We provide starter dosage of over-the-counter medications. We have a limited in-house pharmacy for students and we utilize a local pharmacy for prescription medications we do not have on hand.
Confidentiality
Franklin Pierce Health Services is legally and ethically obligated to protect students' right to privacy. Your medical records are strictly confidential. No one other than FP Health Services staff has access to your medical records without your prior written permission through a Medical Records Release Form. This restriction includes your parents, faculty and staff or outside agencies. Certain communicable diseases need to be reported to the Department of Public Health and you will be informed of this action prior to Health Services calling the Department.
Health Record Requirement
The State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services licenses Franklin Pierce Health Services. A completed medical file for each student is required to be maintained in Health Services. These files consist of a Health Assessment Form, a physical exam within 2 years of admission, proof of immunizations (two MMRs, meningitis vaccine, TB screening within one year for U.S. students. For international students, these immunizations are required within 12 weeks of arrival in the U.S., and a tetanus vaccine within 10 years is required) and a signed consent form for medical treatment. Until compliant, students who do not meet these requirements will have a "hold" placed on their registration for the following semester.
In accordance to NH state Educational Health Center licensing rules RSA 151 and He-P 816 and University based health requirements. There must be a completed medical file for each student and is required to be maintained in Health Services. These files consist of a Health Assessment Form, a physical exam within one (1) year of admission, proof of immunizations (two MMRs, meningitis ACWY vaccine, TB screening within one year for U.S. students, and a tetanus vaccine within 10 years is required) and a signed consent form for medical treatment. For international students, these immunizations are required within 12 weeks of arrival in the U.S. Until compliant, students who do not meet these requirements will have a "hold" placed on their registration for the following semester.
The above requirement is mandated for all students who reside or participate in athletic or academic activities on the Rindge NH campus. Please do note * this INCLUDES online graduate students who reside off campus, but DO participate in on campus athletic activities.
